Meeting with IIT Madras (IITM)

As the work of CEGET expands in different cities, Ms. Shabnam Siddiqui, Director, CEGET, met the Dean and Faculty of IIT Madras, for exploring partnership, especially in the Smart City and Biodiversity initiatives of CEGET. Going forward, IIT Madras would be a crucial academic partner of CEGET.

Ms. Shabnam Siddiqui also met Secretary General of Madras Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MCCI) and Chief Resilience Officer of Chennai Smart City for exploring engagement.

Business Biodiversity Alliance for India

CEGET and VNV Advisory Services organized  2nd Roundtable on Business Biodiversity Alliance for India (BBAI) on October 18, 2019 at Bengaluru. The Business

Biodiversity Alliance will work towards leveraging greater collective investments and partnerships to scale up and replicate good practices of conservation across the country.

The businesses such as Greenko Group, VMware, Natural Remedies Private Ltd, Cushman & Wakefield, Infosys, Big Basket, from across Real Estate, Retail, Software and Banking Sector, as well representatives of British Deputy High Commission, participated in the program and indicated their interest to be the part of BBAI initiative.

Integrated Sustainable Transport for Smart and Resilient Cities

Global Compact Network India (GCNI) co-organized a two-day conference on 10th -11th October 2019, with 3R Waste Foundation on ‘Integrated Sustainable Transport for Smart and Resilient Cities’, a precursor to UNCRD’s 12th EST Intergovernmental Regional EST Forum to be held in Vietnam later this year.

Ms. Shabnam Siddiqui moderated a session on ‘Non-Motorized Transport and First – Mile, Last – Mile Connectivity’. Session speakers covered topics on Non-Motorized architecture and transport needs and implementation in Indian cities, Inter-coordination of multiple agencies and associated approvals required to do pilots and projects. Speakers also highlighted the need of vulnerable user groups in transport projects, and recommended co-development as a key driver to bridge the gap between governance, stakeholders and beneficiaries.

Besides this, the role of citizen engagement was explored and each presenter referred to some form of engagement that was contextual to their work such as crowdsourced data using apps, extensive consultations with the customers or making a community of followers.

MOU with AFIN/GIZ and Launch of Integrity App

To promote prevention of corruption in the private sector and improve the framework conditions for compliant and clean business by mainstreaming business integrity, CEGET has signed a non-commercial MoU with Alliance for Integrity (AFIN) to strengthen the 10th UNGC Principle of the United Nations Global Compact, through collaborative knowledge sharing and capacity building of both public and private sector companies to have robust compliance programmes and to have mechanisms for prevention of corruption.

The Alliance for Integrity is launching “TheIntegrityApp” at their conference on Digitalization of Compliance Management: The Way Forward, on 1st November 2019 in Delhi.

The conference is being organized as a part of the “Vigilance Awareness Week” observed by the Central Vigilance Commission to encourage all stakeholders to collectively participate in the prevention of, and the fight against corruption and to raise public awareness.

Exploring partnership for SDGP

Technology, today, is significantly different from what it was yesterday. Digital literacy is needed for women to enable them to have right access to education, right access to employment and right access to equitable resources. With the purpose to enhance women’s access to various development resources and to empower them with right decision-making skills, CEGET, in partnership with Biosfera Foundation and SIDART, is working on a project in this domain.
